Angela Rayner: The Labour rising star with a remarkable personal story

Angela Rayner, Labour's Shadow Education Secretary, is a rising star in British politics. She has a remarkable personal story, having overcome adversity to achieve her current position.

Rayner was born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, in 1980. She was brought up by her mother, a single parent, in a council house. Rayner left school at 16 and worked in a variety of jobs, including as a care worker and a trade union representative.

In 2010, Rayner was elected as the Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne. She quickly made a name for herself as a vocal critic of the Conservative government. In 2016, she was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Education.

Rayner is a passionate advocate for social justice. She has spoken out against austerity measures, poverty, and inequality. She is also a strong supporter of the trade union movement.
