Marlins Shortstop Xavier Edwards Departs Game Against Cubs

Edwards Leaves Game Early Due to Injury

Edwards Departs in Sixth Inning

Miami Marlins shortstop Xavier Edwards exited Friday night's game against the Chicago Cubs in the sixth inning due to an undisclosed injury.

Edwards, who was acquired by the Marlins in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this season, is considered a key part of Miami's young core.

The Marlins have not yet released any further information on the severity of Edwards' injury or his expected recovery time.

Cubs Win 6-3 Behind Crow-Armstrong's Homer

In addition to Edwards' departure, the game was also notable for a spectacular inside-the-park home run by Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Crow-Armstrong's homer came in the fourth inning and gave the Cubs a 3-1 lead at the time.

The Cubs went on to win the game 6-3, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Marlins Struggling for Consistency

The Marlins have struggled for consistency this season, currently sitting at 51-62 and in fourth place in the NL East.

Edwards' injury is another setback for a team that has been plagued by injuries all season.

The Marlins will hope to get Edwards back in the lineup soon and make a push for a playoff spot in the second half of the season.
